Jimmy Reece
Mr Jimmy Reece’s is the holder of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, Adelaide, South Australia, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering, Mineral Resource Evaluation from the University of Guyana.
His professional career began at the Linmine Bauxite company and on to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and spans over 2 decades with this institution where he held several positions within the Commission. His professional career as a young adult commenced as an assistant geologist. He was subsequently promoted to the positions of geologist, then senior geologist where he assisted and advised foreign exploration companies on matters of interest and investment opportunities within Guyana.
Mr. Reece was then promoted to the position of manager of the geological services division where he advised on the planning and operational control with respect to the management and administration of the Geological Services Division.
Mr. Reece was later appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission where he facilitated in the development of strategic plans to guide the organization, crafted policies for the Guyana extractive sector and initiated programs to advertise and market nontraditional minerals of Guyana.
He currently holds the position of Deputy Commissioner -Technical at the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission where he is tasked with preparing, coordinating and monitor programmes of the Commission, which are funded by external organizations and foreign countries. He also facilitates the process of executing Mineral Agreements between the Commission and other entities.
